archives
INFO
Archives are places of power.
They tell certain stories and leave others out. Since we live in an unjust world, archives, too, are unjust places. Marginalised knowledge is systematically excluded from society’s narratives, diminishing the power of those already marginalised.
In collaboration with various activist groups, we build archives that make non-hegemonic knowledge—and the pasts, presents, and futures of activism—accessible both to the communities themselves and to the public. The aim is to enable activists to sustain their work and shape collective memory. By making history, we seek to dismantle mnemonic injustice and transform the future.
Through several workshops, I will support you in setting up an analogue, digital, or hybrid archive that preserves the tangible and intangible traces of your activist work. Together, we will identify what you need from your archive and how it can best serve your goals. I will bring archival expertise; you will bring activist expertise. Together, we build independent mini-archives that challenge power structures.
